At some point in their lives many people decide to investigate or revisit the basic truths of the Christian faith. In order to help people do this, if there are a few takers, we can run 8 – 10 week long courses based on some of the materials from the Alpha course.
Each session on the course consists of 3 parts. The first part is an informal meal giving folks a chance to get to know one another. After the meal, an enjoyable dvd addresses a question of the Christian faith. Subjects include “Who is Jesus?”, “Why did He die?”, “How can I be sure of my faith?”, “What about prayer?”, “What about the bible?”, “Who is the Holy Spirit?” “Does God guide us today?”. Following the dvd are discussion groups of between 6 and 12 people. These groups are an opportunity for course participants to put forward their points of view about what was said on the video and by doing so discover what they and others think about the christian faith. There is no onus on people to talk in the groups, some people find it most helpful just to listen while others are keen to debate and wrestle with the questions. (Please note that you will not be asked to read or pray aloud or sing.)
These courses are usually popular and of course, are open to all whether you are examining the Christian faith for the first time, bringing a friend or are a church member refreshing yourself on the basics.
