We are really looking forward to our church day away and here is some info to give you an idea of the itinerary for the day.
Firstly it is with great regret that we will no longer be able to offer coach transport to Elie. Unfortunately it has just not been cost effective to provide this. We realise that some people may now need a lift to Elie and if this is the case – please let Lynne or I know so that we can help you arrange this. You can do this by leaving a comment below. Likewise if anyone has space in their car and would be happy to offer a lift then we would be grateful if you could let us know so we can make arrangements.
The plan is to aim to meet at the Harbour end of Elie beach from 11am onwards. We have arranged for Murray’s Chip Van to offer a fish and chip lunch from 12noon at the beach front. Here is the internet address www.murrayschippy.co.uk if you would like to look at the menu in advance and have a rough idea for spending money for lunch. I have informed Murray that I will make contact with him in the week running up to our day away with a rough number – so if you would prefer to bring your own picnic instead, you can just let us know. Please also feel free to bring other snacks, drinks etc as you require.
The afternoon will be at your leisure, Please feel free to bring anything you like….bucket and spades, balls, Frisbee’s, deck chairs, ukuleles…etc. There will be a net provided for badminton/ beach volleyball and we plan to have a game of rounders. There will also be a sandcastle competition for those who fancy taking part and we have no doubt other competitions may take place ad hoc as the afternoon continues. There is also a local cricket match taking place on Elie Beach at 11.30am so for anyone interested in cricket….make sure you get there early to find a good spot to watch.
Elie beach offers a number of water sports at the beach front – so if your fancying a bit of adventure you can go sailing, kayaking, surfing, water skiing, inflatable rides and so much more – www.eliewatersports.com has all the details and I have attached a price list to this email. (You may need to book in advance to avoid disappointment).
There are a number of public toilets all within a short walking distance from the beach and for those who fancy a wonder around Elie there are some lovely art gallery/ gift shops, coffee and ice cream shops too…..but we are hoping you will be having enough fun on the beach without that!!
The plan is to return home around 4pm but there is no real time limit required….just whenever you fancy….or when the tide comes in. We also hope to secure Elie Church Hall for the day – should the weather turn nasty and we have some rainy day activities up our sleeves for that…but keep praying for a dry day (Fish and Chips will still be available either way!)
If you have any further questions then Lynne and Caroline will both be around over the next couple of Sundays or please feel free to get in touch through the form below.
